Choosing a theme for your wedding can be fun, entertaining for guests and a creative way to interject you, your personalities, traditions, heritage, and even personal interests or experiences into your big day!
Of course, weddings don’t necessarily have to have a theme. It doesn’t have to be “Hollywood” or “Western” or “Renaissance” but merely can be a subtle concept that essentially starts with determining what you want to convey at your wedding. Do you want to provide a slight glimpse of your theme, or a display it in a more prominent, dramatic role? Either way is fine. Beth and Jeff love to ski. So, they incorporated a ski lift chair into their “ski Colorado” subtle overtone for their Estes Park wedding ceremony held at Della Terra Mountain Chateau. It was totally them with just enough to present their style. We’ve also been part of nearly every wedding theme you can imagine this year ranging from subtle to WOW! The roaring 1920’s; 1980’s retro; vintage wedding; western; elegant 1880’s; carnival; 1950’s; Hawaiian Luau; comic book themed weddings; sports team themed weddings, and a variety of weddings deep in family heritage / cultural (from Russian, German, Latin, Spanish, Polish, Jewish, Indian, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese and more!)
Wedding style isn’t just about choosing your favorite colors. It’s about the way you want to live and a reflection of your personality; it’s who you are and how you want to project yourself to your friends and family at your wedding celebration. It’s what’s important to you! Amore’ DJ Entertainment features professional Colorado wedding DJs and wedding lighting and décor experts with a process specifically based on the planned and intentional discovery of you, your personalities, traditions, heritage, experiences, wedding day perceptions and expectations mirrored along side your wedding vision so we can help create a one-of-a-kind celebration. Then we are able to present suggestions based on our extensive wedding experience, creativity and knowledge to be able to do that
So, be authentic and genuine when you make decisions and remember that the very best wedding style is the one you call your very own!
As you begin to develop your own wedding style, there are four very important factors:
1) How will you use the venue or room?
(Hint: Be sure to style the room based on ALL the activities that will actually take place there, where and when, factoring in the natural flow of all the key events.) For example, when possible, try to avoid putting the buffet on the dance floor because of the time and disruption it takes to remove it. Consider not placing the cake on a separate level, or even a bouquet toss from the balcony. It just logically detracts from the natural sequence of events while you walk up to the balcony leaving guests to wander mentally elsewhere as they try to track events visually around the room.
2) What kind of light will the room have?
A room’s natural lighting will make a big difference in your color choices for the walls, flowers, linens, furniture, decor and ambient lighting. Rooms with a lot of natural light coming in through windows can handle strong colors (not necessarily up-lighting), where as rooms with little natural light (like an internal Denver wedding in a hotel ballroom) may need lighter décor colors, but can certainly have more vibrant up-lighting.
3) What size is the room?
Does the room feel too big, too small or just right? Color and design can change the guest’s perception of a room and alter a mood. (for more, see the our article on “Color Theory for Weddings”)
4) What’s already there?
More than likely, you’ll be working with existing furnishings, colors, patterns, and textures a venue has to offer. Take note of what fits into your vision, what can stay, what can go, and what can be creatively re-vamped.
Together, we’ll create memorable and unique moments for the ceremony, and wedding reception using our extensive wedding experience to create meaningful and memorable moments, often times in areas or ways you may have never even considered to help make your wedding uniquely you!
